Of course, the rankings lists that you see in magazines and on the Web are always partially a matter of opinion, but Texas-San Antonio typically is ranked among the two or three best in the country. Baylor is also often in the top 10 or so. UT-Houston is not. See the source for two such lists. Don't take their rankings as proof of anything, but I think you will generally find consensus that Baylor and and UT-San Antonio are very good choices. Good luck!!

I need information on San Antonio Texas?
I am looking for information on 1. School Districts which ones are good? 2. what areas are good to live in and why and what areas are bad to live and why? 3. What are the child care prices in the area? 4. What is diversty down there? 5. How open are Texans when it comes to religion? I live in Utah everyone here is mormon and you re looked at differently if you are no 6. Can anyone tell me what the smoking laws are? here in Utah we have the clean air act. 7. What are good restaurants? 8. What is the medical like? any other information would be here.

First off, San Antonio is a beautiful, clean city. It is highly diverse. Like all cities there are better and worse areas, your best bet would be to contact a good real estate agent because which area you live in will be determined on what you can afford. For your other questions the easiest thing to do would be to look it up on the city"s web page and use the contacts given there.

For top rated San Antonio schools, look here- http://www.greatschools.net/city/San_Antonio/TX San Antonio is a diverse city, large % hispanic, but a lot of German heritage in the area also. The cost of living is very reasonable compared to other metropolitan areas. The climate is nice- winters are usually fairly mild, but it can snow and get icy. Religion is also diverse, there are Catholic, Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist, etc- I have seen no evidence of anyone being looked at "differently" as you say, based on their religion. Austin, just to the north of San Antonio, is a pretty liberal city, and is a hub of arts and entertainment. It is a medical center of the entire SW. Smoking laws are thesame as the are everywhere I guess. We have them if thats what you mean. All things considered, its a good place to live, and a good place to raise a family.

I have till next Wednesday, which is when school starts. My Mom just got out of surgery on her legs and needs to get around walking. So far we've just been walking around the Marriot Hotel and staying in the room. I was wondering if their was a nice park or fun places we could visit in San Antonio considering the circumstances. You can go to six flags fiesta texas which is an amusement park. you can go to the river walk, they have this boat you can go on which is pretty fun, and they have some resturants around it. you can go shopping at la cantera, its a really nice mall, but if you really wanna shop in san marcos there is this outlet mall and it is GREAT! you can also go tubing in new braunfels along the camal river, or you can go to the tower of americas which is a really nice resturant you can go to!

Try to find a baby sitting job. Most businesses won't hire anyone under 16 and it would only be part time (20 hours a week or so) because of child labor laws.

For our 8th grade trip to Fiesta Texas San Antonio we live about 250 miles south of it in south texas.and I heard but dont know if its true that were taking greyhound(or some other big passenger bus)to fiesta texas.Should the school do this.I mean its better than taking the school buses.the bus drivers arnt even expiriences,i dont wanna die.....Its smarter to charter or whatever buses intstead of taking school buses that might brake down.Our school isint the richest school but I mean I dont think they would take us 250 miles upstate on a bus that might break down.....Opinions??

I would hope they would charter a bus - you may want to contact the school. Chartered bus usually comes equipped with a bathroom, DVD player which would make the trip a lot more enjoyable. Its definitely worth the extra expense

One that has a prayer night, bible study night, Friday night service, Sunday School, Sunday morning service and Sunday night service? The church that I went to in California had the above schedule, but I'm shocked that in San Antonio that churches only have one service for the whole week! Which church has a schedule similar to the above schedule?/ Sorry, I was making a general statement. So far, every church that I have seen meets once a week. I'm Apostolic, but willing to go to a Baptist church or something similar.

What's the best location to move in at San Antonio Texas?
What's the best location to move in at San Antonio Texas?
I'd be moving into San Antonio and I have 2 little kids. I will be working dowtown, but want to rent in more of a suburban & family oriented setting. I need recommendation on places that have the best elementary public schools that have a reputation for high standards & test achievements, least crime & maximum safety, middle to up-scale neighborhood of educated professionals with access to great shopping, dining, medical, etc. I do not mind driving 10-15 miles to work. I can pay about 700 to 1100 dollars in renting a 2-bed apartment. I would prefer not to live in or about a predominantly hispanic neighborhood. Can someone point me to some great SA neighborhoods please. LOL.

ABSOLUTELY! I used to live there. I found the perfect neighborhood. It's called French Creek Villiage and it's located on the the Northwest side. It's located just off of Bandera Road about 3 miles inside of the 1604 loop. The houses are fairly inexpensive and they range in variety of shapes and sizes. Do a search on http://maps.yahoo.com for Heatherington or George Kyle street in San Antonio. The neighborhood offers a very nice community pool and Tennis courts. The neighbors are awesome and very friendly. The pool has an active swim team throughout the summer for children. They have picnics at the pool for the whole neighborhood. For Halloween, almost everyone in the neighborhood decorates with illuminaries and then for Christmas, they have a hayride with Santa and there are apple cider stations on every street corner. It's a great place to raise kids. It's close to great shopping including 4 Starbucks, Kmart, Target, Barnes and Noble, restaurants, groceries, etc. O'Conner High School in Helotes is one of the best schools in the country. You won't regret checking this place out. If you're looking for something on the North East side, check out Universal City or Live Oak. I would avoid living in the inner city and especially stay away from Columbia Heights area located South Central. As far as not living by Hispanics, it's going to be almost impossible in San Antonio. The Hispanic population of San Antonio is over 70%. But don't be alarmed. Hispanic culture is unlike that of just about any other minority, especially in San Antonio. Most of which in the suburbs are professionals and are excellent neighbors. I found a great opportunity to raise my children in a diverse environment that was enriched with culture and very safe. Which Law school should I attend, St Mary's in San Antonio or South Texas College of Law in Houston, and why?
| Which Law school should I attend, St Mary's in San Antonio or South Texas College of Law in Houston, and why? I have been accepted into both St. Mary's and South Texas but am having a tough time deciding between the two. If you have any information that will help me make my decision, it would be greatly appreciated. FYI - I have an undergrad degree from UT Austin. If you would like to practice and live in San Antonio (or the surrounding area), then you should attend St. Mary's. If you would like to live in Houston, then you should attend South Texas. However, both schools carry very little weight outside of their respective markets. Nonetheless, moves to other markets can be done if one has outstanding grads. Not that it matters, but St. Mary's is much more UT friendly than South Texas. South Texas is almost the surrogate of Texas A&M. |

What classes do i have to take in order to graduate High school in texas?
im going to be moving to san Antonio texas this year and im going into 11th grade. Right now i go to school in florida. I just wanted to know what you classes you have to take in order to graduate high school there.

At my school you need 4 years/credits of the basics; math, history, science, english. 2 in another language, 1 1/2 in P.E., 1 computer, 1 art and the rest electives..

how much do certified medical assistant get paid in San Antonio,Texas if you work in a hospital?
im going to start going to school and dont know which career to choose i want to be a certified medical assistant because the course is only 8 months long but will it benefit me in the long run. i want good pay anything above 10 dollars.

You should check out Careerbuilder.com. They have a salary calculator that you can search for any job and it will give you the national average salary for the job, then you can narrow it to a specific city and state. Hope this helps!

Medical transcription on campus course in san antonio area?
Medical transcription on campus course in san antonio area?
I am looking for a medical transcription (on campus not online) course in San Antonio from an accredited school (Techskills is not accredited). If not in san antonio, then between medina and san antonio texas. A class that is in depth enough to take the state RMT exam after completion. Googled till my head and eyes hurt. Please help. Thank you.

Check out all the community colleges in the area. They tend to carry MT courses as opposed to the larger colleges. More on MT courses on website below, including practice CDs.

Your best bet is probably to talk to the broker at whatever agency you want to work with. Most of them will be happy to help you, and it will give you some idea of how much help you'll get from that agency. Remember that the Real Estate biz is chock full of folks that thought it would be easy money. Regardless of which course you take, expect to go for at least six months with no income (but lots of expenses). Most new agents do not make it through their first license period. But, if you like working with people, aren't afraid of hard work and long hours, and can deal with being an "independent contractor" (no benefits), then this job can be a lot of fun, and eventually you can make a good living at it. I did find that the University of Texas at Arlington runs an on-line real estate course. You might want to check them out. http://www.schoolestate.com/
